===== From skipt1@aol.com: An entire city made out of cake! (jk, see file name). Interesting idea. Much more detail is needed to highlight the emptiness of the city. Newspapers blowing around on the ground. Windows or doors left open... ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: intersting concept, though I don't really think it comes across well in the model. It doesn't look like a deserted city, more like you rendered the city but didn't have time to model people and cars. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but considering that the city was someone else's work, I see very little in this image to really credit you with. ===== From rgow@lanset.com: In my town there is one time each year that looks like this; just after kick-off for the superbowl. Great concept. Needs more stuff on the streets than just streetlights though, newstands, fire hydrants, etc. ===== From helene.dumur@free.fr: An original idea, and a good realisation L'id_e la plus originale du concours, f_licitations ! ===== From i-mcnamara@cornellcollege.edu: A deserted city was one of the things I wanted to try making, but I ran out of time after wasting it all making my slice of cake. Nice image. Simply laid out but it works well to create a feeling of being alone. Makes me think of that scene from Vanilla Sky (the English remake) where Tom Cruise's character finds himself alone in the Big Apple. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: I like the concept, just want to see more detail in the image. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: I think a few more city artifacts would increase the feel of desolation. Neat idea. ===== From darwallace@earthlink.net: I was expecting dust, cracked windows, and rust in a scene like this. ===== From file: Great Notable for modelling, textures, lighting ===== From file: An interesting concept. I find the city macro is great for the ditant perts of a city, but I suggest modelling the forground by hand. Gilles Tran talks sense bout modelling cities in 'The making of The Wet Bird' (http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/mkofwetbird1.htm). I highly reccomend it.
