===== From skipt1@aol.com: The scorpion looks a bit too much like plastic. Some better transitions betwee the mountains, mesas, and ground would help. Perhaps a bit more detail beyond the scorpion too. Nice job on the modeling though. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: The scorpion model is great, but the image is spoiled by a very poor background. It would look better with just the scorpion sat on some sand, without trying to get this huge vista into view at the same time. Or if you want the big view at least take the time to add details and textures to it. As it is the whole background looks severely unfinished and detracts from the very nice scorpion. ===== From AlaskaS@gmx.de: Wow. I'm really impressed by this scorpion. This is really great work. ===== From rgow@lanset.com: Scorpion is well modelled, good mountains in the background. Better textures would help & some more objects show scale. As is, I can't tell if thats a very large scorpion, those buttes look too close. ===== From cox@gmx.at: The scorpion looks really nice! But the background needs some more work... ===== From ewaninthailand@yahoo.co.uk: Well done with the modelling of the scorpion, a little bit 'shiny' perhaps? ===== From i-mcnamara@cornellcollege.edu: I must say, that is some pretty good modeling for pov-ray. I wouldn't want to try anything that organic for a while. The isosurfaces in the background (height fields?) look good, though those eroded columns could use a little more variation, they look a bit too stretched. Overall, that's a very good bit of raytracing. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: I like the image, very nice terrain and textures. But having grown up in an area where scorpions live, it was hard to see it as real. A bit flatter, more restrained colors would have been good. The ones I knew started out very light, then darken with age to a deep red-brown. Nicely modeled, though. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: That's one good looking critter. ===== From darwallace@earthlink.net: The mesas are somewhat lacking in both shape and texture. I was looking for rock there, not sand. ===== From file: Need volume Notable for modelling ===== From file: Wow. If you combined this model with one of the desert scenes that someone had been working for two months just on the dunes, it would be FANTASTIC. Your environment is good, but a model that nicely done (and textured) just deserves more time on the envronment than the IRTC gives you. Notable for textures, modelling
