===== From skipt1@aol.com: Not a bad composition. How about clumping the grass instead of having evenly spaced isolated blades? It would make for a more realistic presentation. Your dust storm is a technical accomplishment. How about using a media with a density though, or perhaps both? The normal on the dunes doesn't look quite as good close to the camera, an isosurface might be better suited for that. Nice image and good effort. ===== From tek@evilsuperbrain.com: Needs some more work on the textures and modelling (not counting the 3d cafe models of course). I'd suggest comparing it to photographs to tune the size of the ripples in the sand, the shape of the palm trees, spacing and variety of grass, etc. Also I'd suggest that simulating dust-storms using individual particles will require very high numbers of particles (several times more than you've used here) to even get close to the appearance of real ones. Instead I would suggest using pov's media to get a more cloudy feel. Concept and overall layout are good. ===== From rgow@lanset.com: Nice texture on the snake. Water could be more visible. ===== From helene.dumur@free.fr: A very nice (?) snake, but the trees are not realistics ===== From i-mcnamara@cornellcollege.edu: Good work. This is about as deserty as it gets. The water is a nice touch, though I would have liked to see more of the water itself. The life around the oasis is well modeled, though a more detailed tree model would be nice (not that I can do any better). The dust storms are an interesting touch, but I feel that they could be improved a bit by making their shapes narrower and a bit more erratic. Great picture though, keep it up. ===== From jacoons@ameritech.net: This is a great image. I can't quite decide why, but the foreground grass seems a little *off*, maybe too regular. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: Solid picture, nicely balanced elements, but not too crazy about the snake, looks too bright somehow. The water I had to search for, didn't look a lot like water to me. I think I would have buried the skull a bit more, and maybe rotated it a bit to see more easily for what it is. Didn't like the dust devil, though its inclusion is a nice addition. A good image, but the details weren't quite a good as the could be. ===== From raytracing@grayproductions.net: Wish I had a better view of things like the water and the mice. ===== From file: Well Notable for modelling
