I like the style of picture that you are attempting here, and the bright colors
really help to make the oasis seem refreshing and full of life.  Good modeling,
nice plants, and well lit.  I'm not all that familiar with 3DS Max, but your
description was easy enough to follow that I feel I understand the basics of
how this picture was made.  I think that your lighting problem is universal
with all programs though.  You aren't alone.  Anyway, a very well executed
image.  Keep up the good work.

I like the layout of this image, it has a very balanced feel, and the figures
look reasonably realistic.  The other elements, the dunes, the trees, the jug,
all look good.  Only two things strike me in look at this: 1) I would expect to
see some turbulence in the water where the jug is being dipped in it, and 2)
the kneeling figure's posture looks wrong to my eye.  I think I would expect
her to be much closer to the water, folded more, if that make sense.  Otherwise
a very nice job.
