JPGFILE: jpod.jpg ZIPFILE: jpod.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 3.6 TOOLS USED: GIMP and Paint (for image maps and signature) RENDER TIME: 9 minutes 46 seconds HARDWARE USED: Pentium 2.20G 512M Toshiba Satellite Laptop IMAGE DESCRIPTION: After thinking about what I would like to see on a shelf in a museum, I thought of something common today, but might be rare in the future. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The shelf label was created in GIMP to be used as a heightfield. The 3x5 card was designed for memory in GIMP as a layer, and then the typewritten text was placed in a separate layer, the image exported as a jpeg, and the file used as an image_map. The shelf was orginally part of an ornate cabinet, but when I realized that I was gonna zoom in to the shelf, I made a simple cabinet frame. You can also see a simple wall behind it. The jPod was created as a collection of CG, but to get the roundovers I decided to use three merged base blocks, and then create the roundovers with cylinders and spheres. After rendering with Povray, I added my signature with Paint, and converted to jpg to keep the size down.
