IMAGE DESCRIPTION: 

It should be obvious that it depicts a penguin standing in the desert...
Normally penguins are supposed to be in Antarctica or cool climates, but in 
the desert??
Also, I desided to work in a sort of cartoonish style, instead of 
photorealistic.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

After a quick brainstorm, I decided to use my first idea. I chose Blender 
because to me, it's easier to
model characters when you can actually see them (not just a bunch of 
numbers). Due to the lack of any
good quality converter, I also rendered it with Blender. Finally, I quickly 
started modelling the penguin.
However, one wrong turn left me redoing much of the penguin's body. The 
landscape was just two grids
with manually created lumps. In fact, the second was a scaled duplicate of 
the first, so that there would
be some stuff in the background. The sun was just a cone made to look like 
it was glowing. That's basically it.
I decided to leave the image simple to make it clearer that this was a 
desert, not just a little enclosure
at a zoo.
