JPGFILE: ravine.jpg RENDERER USED: Povray 3.5 TOOLS USED: heightfield lab, poser 4.0, poseray, gimp RENDER TIME: ~10 minutes HARDWARE USED: duron 1.6 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: "So the wife and kid want to the state park. Sure we haven't gone in a while so it would make a nice weekend excursion. These ravines don't form overnight. And yet it only takes a few hours to walk through this particular path. Of course the thing I forgot about from last time was that I get to carry everything: snacks, water, camera, etc. Don't they know I have a family history of heart attacks? If anything, they should be carrying some of this stuff. Oh well. I'm healthy, for now. Hmmm... what're they pointing at? Looks like a couple of birds flying around to me. Perhaps I'm missing something? What'd you say dear? Get the camera? You think they might be some rare bird whose name I can't even pronounce?" And so goes another family outing. Thankfully, not my family. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The walls and ground are heightfields made with height field lab. The wall texture was made using the gimp. There are several rocks which are just isosurfaces. The people are poser models and exported using poseray. The birds are a union of spheres. On close-up, they don't even look close to bird-like. Fortunately, they're too far away to see any detail. Whew!
