TITLE: A Kiss NAME: George Jenner EMAIL: georgejenner@belgacom.net TOPIC: Opposites COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: gj_kiss.jpg RENDERER USED: Realsoft3d 5.1 beta for Linux TOOLS USED: Realsoft, xfrog for the flowers RENDER TIME: 6 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium 4 2.2 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Black sheep white wool, white sheep black wool, opposite sides of the fence. One might be a ram, I suppose, but I don't really know. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Wool and wire are nurbs curves. Wool density is increased with Realsoft's "interpolators". Textures are procedural except for the wooden fence. Each strand of wool has a displacement texture so close up they look like spun wool. It doesn't make much difference at this resolution and just pushed the render time from 10 mins to 6 hours. The original composition was going to be much closer in to the faces. Sunlight plus dome light for fill. Tried Global Illumination but it made everything look like poo. So I turned it off and added some Depth of Field to soften the background. Flowers made in xfrog with scanned textures.
