TITLE: Rise of Star on Lost Planet NAME: Bruno Cabasson COUNTRY: France EMAIL: bruno_cabasson@yahoo.fr TOPIC: Fire and Ice COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: starrise.jpg ZIPFILE: starrise.zip RENDERER USED: POV 3.6 RENDER TIME: 4 15 HARDWARE USED: AMD Athlon 3200+ laptop IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This star is quite weird, and every morning on the cold and icy planet produces strange effects. A lost tree glows with sparkles, a lost cristal comes to flames without burning, the clear atmosphere enlightens with a kind of aurora borealis and with an atomic-like effect far away on the horizon. What will tomorrow be like? DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Atmosphere is highly directive scatterring media. Stars are a blob (renders quicker than many single spheres, I noticed). Tree glow is media with attractive black hole. Fire is made with a macro (still under developpementat the time, but quite operational already). Cloud is emissive media with a color_map inspired by Gimp. Cluster and comet also emissive media. Ground is isosurface (can be rendered as height_field). Radiosity and photons. Switches in the code for tuning and control the render.
