The concept is original, although I have a little doubt about the "absence" really being conveyed here. Perhaps, the fact that the ghost friends are still visible increases that feeling? In fact, you have tried to illustrate a very difficult idea: the emotional state balancing between absence and loneliness. I am afraid you have not entirely succeeded here.
Technically, the scene is built up of simple, straightforward elements with careful attention. I think that is well done. The staine glass window is beautiful. Perhaps, for an old castle, some dirt and cobwebs would be required?
