Pro:
+ The planet's explosion after the shockwave is my personal highlight of this
animation.
Improvable:
- The effects before (the sun's reaction to the impact of the blue star) are a
bit odd (reminds me of the "Supernova" episode of "LEXX"?)

The Mandelbrot-based terrain didn't pique my interest. Whatever hit the sun
could have used a more believable texture. Technically this was a good
beginner's effort.

From schaneville@hotmail.com:
The fractal planet with the "glow" around it looked great, as did the exploding
sun. I was also impressed with the smaller ships all docking at once to the
mother ship. Finally, I thought the approach to the new planet transitioned
excellently from well above the ground to the close up/landing. Would have
liked to see more "nebulous" material in the blank regions of space. Sehr gut!

For some reason, the end of it looked to me like the new planet was about to
fall into its sun! That'd be a serious flaw in their plan, to say the least.
Very effective transition through the clouds as the shuttle landed on the new
planet. I thought the effect of the meteor hitting the sun through to the sun
explosion was far too cartoony. On the whole, though, it was technically very
good.

Not too bad, but I don't really the textures, they're too simple.
Also, I would have liked to see something other than the Mandelbrot
set on a planet. The Sun sequence is pretty cool actually. It's
nice to see a good use of blobs.

I liked the "realism" of the space scenes more than the indoor ones...

From thatsalloneword@msn.com:
The scene where the planet is destroyed and the ship takes off seems a bit
rip-offy of Star Trek: Generations.
It's almost identicle.
Also, it's not much of a 'generation ship' if it only took a year to get to a
new planet.
Otherwise, nice concept.

Are those holes in the land to the right of the telecope?

The keyboard is a bit strange. At first I thought it was the wrong
way round with the spacebar at the top, but the arrow keys are on
the right as they should be. Email the person you got that from
and ask them how to use it.

The scenes of landing on the new planet are long and boring, ending
with 5 seconds of pure white screen.

At the end it looks as though the new planet is also crashing into
its sun. It is not clear if this is an intentional joke. The planet
also seems to slow down and then speed up again.

The lighting is noticably wrong all the way through. Most things
seem evenly lit on all sides, with no shadows.

Overall this is okay, but I seem to have seen every sequence in
this hundreds of times before, and didn't fractals go out of fashion
about 10 years ago?

nice atmospheric effect

Could have done some more work with the textures themselves. That would have
made things look a little more realistic.
Notable for modelling
