Artist - T. Paul Althauser «paulalt@msn.com» filename - ruinarch.jpg programs used MidNite Modeller v2.0a, POVRay v2.2 (win32 unofficial compile) Paintshop Pro (tga >> jpg conversion) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Machine/OS - 486DX4/WIN95 total render time @100 hrs (luckily, I was sick the whole week anyway!) All objects are original. The scene was modelled in two sections; the columns and bases, and the surrounding slopes and the architrave, and then combined and textured by hand. (note to modeller developers: the texturing interface is just as important as the drawing interface, and deserves just as much attention and work!) There are two custom marble textures used, which are included in the scene file. They both use colors that are found in "color2.inc", which I found in the comp.graphics.raytracing newsgroup. I've included it in the .zip file. There are also three textures used which were cut from "stones.inc", rather than "include" that whole file. The scene file included is one created by MNM. One of the reasons I use this modeller is that it produces *somewhat* readable .pov files, instead of the *incomprehensible* files most modellers put out (I am an artist, not a Programmer). I've tried to make the file as readable as possible. This is my first submission to the Competition, after using POV for about 6 months. Look for more entries in the future, as I improve in skill. files in .zip file: archcomp.pov master scene file color2.inc special colors plasma2.gif used by height_fields plasma3.gif used by height_fields fract1.pot used by height_fields revs.inc revolution objects created by MNM, used in the capitals, and mesh objects for the grassy slopes
