MAY/JUNE COMPETITION RESULTS

As you all probably know, this month I let everyone turn in their votes to 
decide the winner.  Was it a success?  Yes!
24 people took the time to vote, and by the way it looks most people 
didn't just pick images at random :)

It was a close race up until the end, and a few of the last votes to be 
counted pushed the winner over the 2nd place image.  springeq.jpg by 
Jason Hough and goscience.jpg by Gena Obukhov were the overwhelming 
favorites, being almost 20 points above the 3rd place image.  After 
that, peoples' picks really varied.

I appreciate all the participation we got this month, and I really hope 
it continues.  It's so much better to look in the directory at the end of 
the month and see 50 images rather than 20.  And since this voting method 
seemed to work so well, I will continue with it.

The topic for July 1995 is  "Gadgets and Odd Devices".  I hope to see 
some original images this month....

As usual, questions/comments/criticisms are welcome.  In particular, I 
have 4 questions I would like answered:
1)  Are my "** COMPEITTION" posts too much?  I don't think they overhwlem 
    any groups, but I'm curious what people think.
2)  How is the WWW site?  useful?  Good layout?  Does it take too long to 
    load, with all the thumbnails?
3)  Should the index JPG be bigger (better view of each image) or smaller 
    (to reduce file size)?
4)  I'd like to get some more people donating prizes/programs, etc.  
    Anyone want to contribute to this good cause?  Any ideas of who might 
    want to contribute?  ANYTHING is a welcome addition, and will add a 
    little more incentive.

FINALLY....
some stats you might be interested in.  Each person gave the images 
points - 5 points for best, down to 1 point for 5th best:

18 of the 24 people put springeq.jpg in their top 5 list
15 of the 24 people put goscience.jpg in their top 5 list
oops.jpg, mc_speci.jpg, and electric.jpg each received votes on 10 
peoples' lists.

9 different images got a top rating of 5 by someone.
