EMAIL: Andrew.Scheck@jhuapl.edu WEBPAGE: none TOPIC: flight COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: aes-swat.jpg ZIPFILE: aes-swat.zip RENDERER USED: RayDream Studio 4.1.3 TOOLS USED: Radical F/X, helicopter (sans landing gear) and tank models fromRayDream Studio CD-ROM RENDER TIME: about 1 hr. HARDWARE USED: PowerMac 8100/80AV IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I created a smaller version of this image to go in the "About box..." of a Macintosh application I built called "SWAT" (Strike Weapons Analysis Tool). The analysts using the program got a kick out of the image. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The hardest part was making the hands (which could use some more work--but are fine for my needs) and getting the fingers in the correct positions to hold the can and push the nozzel. Using the new boolean operators from the Radical F/X extension made making the spray nozzel trivial. I used the "fountain" primitive for the spray coming from the can and the "cloud" primitive (both also from the Radical F/X extension) to create the dust cloud below the helicopter. I could only devote a couple of hours to making the picture and it got the smiles from my co-workers that I had hoped for.
