TITLE: Krystallklock NAME: P. Prue COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: pruep@mbay.net TOPIC: Glass COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: krystlkl.jpg ZIPFILE: krystlkl.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray for Windows TOOLS USED: Moray v2.5.wat RENDER TIME: 2 hours 5 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 75mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A less-than-faithful rendering of a Waterford crystal piece which was made to contain a small clock. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Primitives & CSG laid out in Moray, then the details worked over in POV-Ray for Windows. The faceting on the crystal was done using surface normals. The chromatic aberration that occurs in clear glass was simulated using three point lights-- one red, one green, and one blue-- each striking the object at a slightly different angle. The result is visible upon close examination of the caustic refraction in the object's shadow, and in reflective highlights on the object.
