EMAIL: cmuller@thacher.org NAME: Casey Maloney Rosales Muller TOPIC: School COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. TITLE: Thacher in Space COUNTRY: USA WEBPAGE: http://www.thacher.org/cmuller/ RENDERER USED: POV-Ray TOOLS USED: Fractint, Photoshop RENDER TIME: Some minutes. Under an hour. HARDWARE USED: P133 w/ Win 95 for final and some work, 586-166 and some wierd Mac for conception. IMAGE DESCRIPTION: My current school (The Thacher School in Ojai, CA), taken into the future. A space probe (with Thacher's logo on it) orbits a watery planet with odd cloud and land formations. Behind it the sun flares and above it floats a barren moon. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Fairly straight-forward. Thacher's logo was readily available, the starmap was created in Fractint (based on a plasma) with very low density, high clustering and high dim-to-bright ratio. It was mapped onto a plane in the background. The surface of the planet is a color map. Added final words and changed to jpeg with Photoshop. Couple of notes: Yes, I did create this image just for this submission. I didn't just slap a seal on a space probe, I made it from scratch. This is perhaps my first full image that I've done to completion with POV-Ray, and I love it as compared to TrueSpace or RayDream.
