JPGFILE: bodashus.jpg ZIPFILE: bodashus.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray Version 3.02 TOOLS USED: sPatch, Paint Shop Pro RENDER TIME: 3 hours 3 minutes 18 seconds at normal priority HARDWARE USED: Pentium 166 with 64 megs IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Embracing the topic I wanted to depict someone truly getting entertainment out of their art. Also it symbolises someone completely letting themselves go and riding their music, as if a wave. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The waves were create as bicubic patches using sPatch. The texture on the surface started out as some sheet music I had handy. Its actually the renaissance tune "Grimstock" I then painted the blue/green to the top of the image map with Paint Shop Pro. The figure was created using "People Plugin for POV-Ray 3.x" by Hero Ngauv, 1997 roreo123@juno.com a very nice library for modelling human figures. I tweaked the original to create the shorty wetsuit effect and logo. Also the goatee on his face and a slightly sunburnt nose. The logo on the wetsuit is an O'Neill logo, pulled off the net. I have emailed them for permission but not heard back let. So I hope its OK. The surfer's hair is was created using sPatch. I started with an irregular shape and extruded/scaled/rotated/translated it a number of times to taper it out to a point. I wasn't completely happy with the result so the final hair is actually the same object repeated twice slightly rotated to the left and right. The watch was created using CSG with an image map applied for the bezel and the face. The face is from a Rip-Curl watch found on the net. (Although all it is possible to make out up close are the hands). The guitar is a 69 Fender Stratocaster. I found a front view of the guitar on the net. It seems to be a common image as I found numerous versions of it of differing quality all over the place. From the image I created both a height field and a GIF to paint over it. The strings were then added as individual cylinders. The sea is a standard plain with bumps added. The sky is a sky sphere. The horizon was broken up using a halo sphere stretched sideways. Finally the lens flare. This was added using "LENS EFFECTS INCLUDE FILE FOR PERSISTENCE OF VISION 3.x" by Chris Colefax ccolefax@geocities.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------ Pete Grooby 31 October 1997
