Not very much "Ray-Tracing" in this image;
The bulk of the image is just an image map.
Although, you did get a kinda cool glowing effect on the spheres.

The main part of the image is obviously digitized. Although it is used as a
texture and thus legal, it is IMO not in the spirit of the IRTC.

Well, if you'd given some kind of a description to help me see how this fit 
into the theme, I might have been able to give you a better judgement. As it
is, I chose to judge it as a piece of art that could conceivably be construed
as being under the "Art" part of Arts and Entertainment.
As a piece of art, it appeared to me to be in reference to a particular movie
actress or movie. However, being unable to identify the movie and the actress,
I found it hard to see a connection between the simple geometric object in
the foreground and the image-mapped image in the background.

Ahh... imagemap-tracing... :) I don't really know what you tried to acomplish with this image... The shining effect of the ball-thing is nice, but the colors are terrible in combination with the imagemap you used. Lighting is good though, I think this could have looked pretty good if you would have used other colors, actually.
