TITLE: Lite Brite NAME: John Roy COUNTRY: Canada EMAIL: jroy@internauts.ca WEBPAGE: http://www.internauts.ca/~jroy/ TOPIC: Childhood COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: lbrite.jpg RENDERER USED: Povray 3.02 TOOLS USED: Breeze Designer v2.0, PhotoShop 4 (for the signature). RENDER TIME: 2 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium 200MMX IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is a typical scene for my daughter when she plays with her Lite Brite. I told her that I liked her Clown and I took a picture. I got the idea that it would look great for the Ray-Tracing Competition. I then decided to recreate the photo in Ray-Tracing. I did not know what I was getting into ... ;) The bands up on the wall are a kit you can buy made out of foam that sticks to the wall. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I first made a table to put the Lite Brite on. Then I made full screen of pegs all white, pegs everywhere. And I removed the ones I did not need. I used a calculator and a drawing on a paper to figure out the ones to remove. After that it was to color the pegs. I created 2 more Lite Brite drawing with the same system on black sheets. One of a sailboat on the right side and a train in front of the game. The color of the walls and the wallpaper is very close to the real thing. I love to use Breeze 2 but when I was rendering I kept getting some bugs, for the first time I had to fix and write some codes by hand. By the way there is over 300 pegs in the Clown. It took over 25 hours of planning, coding and modelling to get it like this. Hope you like it.
