===== From jknepley@nyx.net: I love everything but the sparks... ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nice lighting! I also really like some of the effects applied to the wall, such as the burnt sign.... the lava effect, despite simplicity, works well. However, the sparks could use some improvement.... they should follow parabolic paths and not cross the normal vector, plus there should be more of them, and they should not all be identical brightness. However, the total image is quite effective, and the subject certainly of great engineering significance, even if it is a little lacking in some of the originality or tiered subjectality of some of the top images (mine excluded..... this contest is proving to be a humbling experience :)). djconnel@flash.net ===== From castlewrks@aol.com: This image is too dark. The factory space is too small a scale. The The detail level is lacking. More sparks! ===== From sonya_roberts@geocities.com: Great work on the lighting. The sparks are maybe a bit too regular, a more spray-like burst might have looked better. ===== From kosh@nesys.com: Great concept, nice colors. Having been around steel mills, it's too clean and orderly. Slag and iron dust are everywhere! ===== From kaustin@tgn.net: Interesting take on the topic. Main drawback to the image: the sparks look wrong. They're too bright and arc perfectly in the same general direction. ===== From daves@wkpowerlink.com: Great lighting, interesting modelling, and a good idea make this a great entry. ===== From chipr@niestu.com: Dramatic lighting, good concept, good composition. As you noted, the modeling and texturing are a bit simple. I wish the image had been larger. ===== From bill@apocalypse.org: Great detail on wall around scene (calendar and torn safety notice). ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Hot stuff! Excellent lighting techniques. Red sparks look a little too "perfect" ===== From karl@pemail.net: Bit too dark to see the details ===== From wozzeck@club-internet.fr: Good idea, discovered after adapting a lighting which must have been a nightmare to do... ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: The image is excellent but the molten metal is too 'neat'. It needs more 'spatter'. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: The sparks seem to be too few and to neatly arranged. But nice background and lighting. ===== From lpurple@netcom.com: Image needs some strong gamma-correction, but is excellent otherwise. The scorched safety poster is a nice detail. :) ===== From r@dial-up11.webbernet.net>: A very good image, this captures the foundry ambiance well. I like the stains on the wall and the pipes in the background. The text on the safety poster is fascinating . It would be nice if the ladle and crucible were a little grungier. The sparks are too geometric, also. I would like to see a worker in there somewhere to give perspective. Very good lighting job. ===== From r@bowerbird.cc.uq.edu.au>: The sparks are a bit unrealistic; your halo for the liquid metal could have been slightly more turbulent. Notable for textures, originality, composition
