===== From jknepley@nyx.net: There have been better lightbulbs in previous rounds. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Very nicely done! This is like a study in effective texture mapping... as well as a contender for the "most CPU cycles" award :). I like the way it was rendered as a display object rather than as a light simply in place -- the setting reinforces the notion that it is being honored for its contribution to Engineering . ===== From castlewrks@aol.com: This is a nice mixture of textures and color choices. ===== From agage@mines.edu: The stucco background is very nice. ===== From sonya_roberts@geocities.com: Nicely done. From my own experience with modelling glass objects containing lightsources, i think I can safely say that you'll find the non-hollow light bulb won't look as good as the hollowed one, as it eliminates all those time-consuming interior reflections and refractions that make an image feel "real". I like that wierd stucco texture in the background. ===== From chipr@niestu.com: Very good coloring, texturing, and modeling. I think you did the right thing with the hollow glass--it would have looked funny otherwise. And the lighting works very well. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Interesting texture on the wall, I like it. The glass is very realistic, but the wood and metal parts are not. ===== From arcana@sinbad.net: I would have liked to have seen wiring going down into the base of the bulb. ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: Great job on the light bulb and filament. My suggestion for improvement is to scale the wood grain smaller. I also like the texture on the wall. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Very good but suffers from too many sharp edges and plain surfaces. The glass and filament were very well done. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: FYI: Thomas A. Edison did _not_ invent the electric light bulb (he didn't even claim he had. He merely made modifications). Besides, at that time, no-one used helical metal wire, but carbon thread. Apart from these factual errors, a nice image :) ===== From 101741.541@compuserve.com: The object is fine, but the scene is a little short; could have been accompanied by a candle,.. something to remind WHY it's a great engineering achievement. ===== From lpurple@netcom.com: This is a really good image. Can't think of anything that would improve it. ===== From r@cust169.webbernet.net>: I really like the wall and the attention to detail in the bulb, but the base of the bulb and the wood texture need more detail.
