Jeesh!  Work like this makes me realize how incredibly far I need
to come to be even close to winning one of these things :).

Impressive.  This passes with "flying colors" (sorry..) my criterion
for topicality -- would it be appropriate on an engineering
textbook?  Brilliantly executed -- the engineering aspect of
the subject, a classic invention, is nicely emphasized.  The
rendering of the wing, complete with twine, is excellent.
The ink well is like a jewel -- very nicely done.  The pen is
a nice touch, as well.  Texturing is excellent.... this one
is a worthy candidate for winner.

I like this concept of the physical wing beside the drawing very much.  The wing
is also very nicely modelled, esp. the detailing of things like the stiches and
thread wrappings holding the entire construction together.  The inkwell is
fairly nice, but the feather is too flat and fake-looking compared to the
excellant job you'd done on the other objects.

I loved everything about this image except the feather.  The wing is so good,
organic shape, perfect texture, that the quill looks like a toy alongside it.

Very nice job on the wing and pager.  However I could not give high marks for
concept.  There no evidence that Leonardo actually executed any of his designs.
 He was a great thinker but not much of a builder.  History indicates that only
his war machines, designed under contract, where actually built.

I like this. Quill is a bit rigid and ink bottle cap in right field was
difficult to identify at first. Quill tends to pull eye out of the
composition.

I like the detail of the inkwell, the paper is good and the wing is great.  The
feather texture, though, looks too solid.
