===== From djconnel@flash.net: Nice rendering!!! However, I see nothing in this image which indicates anything about trigonometric land surveys.... If I hadn't read the text, I wouldn't know it had anything to do with engineering. The colors on the floor are especially well done... this really is a nice piece of work. The only question I have is why the columns aren't rotated with respect to the otherwise symmetry axis of the structure. Dan ===== From castlewrks@aol.com: This is a wonderful render, however, I have a hard time relating it to the achievment that it is supposed to represent. The image has little to tie it to the Indian/British historical "basis" for its conception. My initial feeling is elephants instead of heads would have been a better choice. Where is the survey equipment or even a hint... also, the survey towers could have been integrated into the design in some fashion. ===== From sonya_roberts@geocities.com: Nice image, interesting concept. Having once seen a TV show about the survey that covered some of the ingeneious methods that first Lambton and then Everest had to come up with to successfully complete the survey, I'm just a little dissapointed that you didn't attempt a render of the survey itself underway. Overall, good work. ===== From daves@wkpowerlink.com: I'm not exactly sure HOW this commemorates the survey... ===== From chipr@niestu.com: Pretty image, though a bit abstractly tied to the topic. Excellent colors and modeling. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: I guess I don't understand why a survey is an engineering achievement, nor how this commemorates it. ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: A nice image but the connection to the subject is not evident without reading the explanation. ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: I'm not really sure what really is shown in this image. The heads of the people that made the India survey? ===== From c_et_d@club-internet.fr: For me, one of the best image of this round ===== From lpurple@netcom.com: It's visually appealing, especially the scrollwork; but the connection to Engineering is pretty thin. The canopy overhead needs something. (maybe move the geodesic thingy upwards to become a chandelier?) ===== From r@dial-up42.webbernet.net>: For so concrete a theme, the attempted connection is too indirect. A shame, because the image looks really good. The scrollwork in the foreground needs to be a bit smoother. The play of color on the ground is nice. Some clever coding.
