===== From roth@ens.ascom.ch: Very good, pitty about the blocky texture on the right hand side ===== From jknepley@nyx.net: Easily in the upper ranks of this rounds entrants. ===== From djconnel@flash.net: Well done!!! THAT is a pyramid -- it is clearly the class of the pyramid group. Excellent use of texture, and a wonderful modeling job on the statues and imperfect stone faces. Even the simplicity of the sky doesn't detract from the effect. Topicality is hurt a bit because no engineering aspects are really stressed in the photo (whoops.. my mistake... it isn't a photo :)), however. Still, the subject is an excellent one, as it holds two substantial feats of engineering separated by thousands of years.... if the moving operation itself was rendered, it would receive a very high concept score. ===== From castlewrks@aol.com: Fantastic Image. Lighting could be improved to give it more of a sun lit look to it... the blue of the sky implies that it is a daylight scene... an alternative would be to spot-light it as if it were nighttime... ===== From agage@mines.edu: The texture map of the mountain into which the statues were carved looks good, but it becomes too pixelated in the rightmost edge of the image. ===== From sonya_roberts@geocities.com: Wow, extraordinary job of modelling! My only criticism would be that it looks like you textured the whole thing using just one solid colour, though close inspection does show the slight horizontal striations of the sandstone...a little more contrast between the sandstone layers would have produced a less "modelled out of brown putty" look. But that's just me being extra-picky, overall I think this image is worthy of a 20-20-20. ===== From chipr@niestu.com: Typically beautiful Lorenzo image. Only quibbles: The raw rock surface is jagged and pixellated along the right-hand side of the picture. The statues are very good, and the carved hieroglyphics are just gorgeous. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Breathtaking. Yet another amazing image, Lorenzo. The only flaw: curious pixellated look on the heightfield on the far right side. Striding girl is a perfect contrast to the seated monoliths. Cool signature! ===== From bobfranke@halcyon.com: Again, fantastic. I like the contrast of the tourist. The only flaw I see is that the hillside the right edge shows a lot of jaggies. ===== From wozzeck@club-internet.fr: Absolutely fantastic modelling! I understand why you didn't have time left to improve lighting, sky, ground and the mountain (especially on the right) ;-) Funny signature! ===== From ethelm@bigfoot.com: Well Done! Excellent image but some reservations about the colours. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Uf! Vaya tecnica! Increible! El toque de la firma es genial. Zuerte, Maestro! ===== From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de: Very good modelling. ===== From lpurple@netcom.com: The carved stone figures are very impressive. ===== From r@dial-up42.webbernet.net>: Incredible! The attention to detail and the artistry are exemplary. The tourist? is a very good touch, giving scale and contrast. The hieroglyphics (including the signature - a good touch) are awe inspiring. Do they match the real thing or did you compose or randomize them? The patch to height field trick you mention sounds very promising. I certainly can't argue with the results. Minor obligatory quibble: The artifacting in the nearest portion of the hillside is the only notable flaw. This image is unquestionably the work of a true master of the medium.
