Holy detail!

From rotht@televar.com:
Pretty! Could use some AA, though.

From mikko.oksalahti@dosetek.varian.com:
The color scheme makes the image look like an old color photograph. I like it.

From gregj56590@aol.com:
Nice grainy, non-ray-traced feel.

From d97ta@efd.lth.se:
one great image, lots of lovely detail.
a bit too grainy though. should use antialiasing.
the tiles are a bit too flat, and they do use a lot of image
space. maybe you should add some weeds there, or use a more interesting
texture.

Nice modelling, but there's something impotrant missing in the
background (OK, the same happens to me too, all the time).
Another brickwall with some "curtains" might fill the horizon quite
well.

Great plants

From simon.davis@altavista.net:
Great. A bit flat, another light would give it more depth.

From buck@cs.byu.edu:
Nice job! The variety in this garden is impressive, esp. since its
ray-traced! I like the bricks alot, but the graininess on the pot is
bit much, I think. It could be scaled down some. Also, the ants seem
to detract from the scene, seeings how they appear mostly as little
black dots on the patio. They seem more like artifacts than objects.

Excellent job, though!

From jaime@ctav.es:
Hmmm... what a nice corner! Amazing modelling, ultradetailed, specially in the
different plants and flowers. Textures and colors are also wonderful, but I
find some mismatching between the sky color and the light color. The light
placement is surely correct, but it makes the scene a bit "shadowless", and
shadows are the most effective way to make things real, with depth.
Anyhow, one of my favs, no doubt. Great work!

Nicely done!!!!

The modeling of the plants is quite good, and the description in your
.txt file is appreciated.

I would try and do more with lighting and finish, however -- the image
is a bit flat.

Still, it is quite an impressive work.

Very interesting "grainy" look..

From 101741.541@compuserve.com:
Quite poetic, high detail, wide variety too. Your Mom is a talented
gardener.
Why no antialiasing ? You had the time and power...

=====
From fisher2@pobox.upenn.edu:
Excellent! Probably would have helped to put a crand statement in for the
sidewalk. It's a bit plain in contrast to the rest of the image.

=====
From arcana@sinbad.net:
A very nice, complete scene. I think I would have like to see the bricks being
more weathered with some variation in the patterning and surfacing. There's a
bit of a rope-like patterning to the bark of the tree off to the right of the
image. There's something "off" about the texture of the urn on the ground. The
specular of the lower rim gives you the feeling that it has a smooth finish.
However, the color patterning gives one the feel of a more stucco'd surface.

From gmccarter@hotmail.com:
Great effort, Karl. Lots of interesting detail to keep the eye moving. Such as
the small weeds growing in between the cracks of the tile floor. This is the
kind of attention to detail that makes an average image become excellent.
Red bricks are maybe too vivid.

=====
From no13@ozemail.com.au:
This is a great image. the only thing that lets the image down is the
lighting. It's a little to flat (no shadows). It also makes the crand on
the big pot a little too harsh.

From peter@table76.demon.co.uk:
Wow... if anti-aliasing doesn't spoil the look of the flowers, it might help
make the lines between the paving stones visible, since some have vanished.

Very nice. Quite realistic, with the exception of the tiles, which look too
smooth. This image would really benefit from anti-aliasing.
Notable for textures, modelling
