TITLE: Logic Dragon (dragon.jpg) NAME: Shuichi Iida COUNTRY: Japan EMAIL: iida@kw.netlaputa.ne.jp WEBPAGE: http://www.netlaputa.or.jp/~iida/ TOPIC: Elements COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: dragon.jpg RENDERER USED: Pov-ray 3.01 TOOLS USED: Photoshop, Lightwave3D Modeler, HIDEMARU Editor RENDER TIME: 61 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium 90 and Power Book G3 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The first element was a spiral object. It's a pretty classical element that connects geometry and life, but I just couldn't get away from it. Then I added surrounding elements, water, earth, fire, light and so on. Together, they form a sort of primitive enclosed space. It's both the beginning and the end of the world, I guess. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The spiral was made from while loop. The ceiling and floor are of height field objects. The background wall is a little tricky. I first made a mesh object on LightWave 3D, saved it as .asc format, Using text editor, I converted XYZ coordinates of the polygons for the position of each disk object. The disks are also randomly rotated within Pov-ray. Photoshop was used to modify the images for Height Field, and to create a JPG file.
