TITLE: A bunch of water molecules running about in a frenzy COUNTRY: USA RENDERER USED: Custom-modified version of POV 3.01 RENDER TIME: 2 hours HARDWARE USED: Pentium 75 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The image depicts a large number of water molecules moving about in random directions. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This image is a basically a test image for a modification that I currently making to POVRay 3.01 to allow for the simulation of motion. The scene file itself was generated by a small program written in C. The modifications to POVRay allow the simulation of motion, by basically re-rendering each line a certain number of times, moving each object in the scene by the appropriate amount, and then averaging the lines. Each object to be moved is assigned a motion vector, and the amount to be moved for each step is determined by one of three simple weighting algorithms. For this image a quadratic formula was used instead of a linear one -- this causes the image to be less photo- realistic but the details in the objects are better observed.
