JPGFILE: 00pfboat.jpg ZIPFILE: 00pfboat.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay for windows version 3.1 (thanks a lot to Pov Team) TOOLS USED: Micrographix Picture Publisher to transform the picture in Jpeg format and nothing else RENDER TIME: 2h 50 min HARDWARE USED: P II 300 with 128 Mo of memory IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Three boats at the end of a race, they have to reach the final line . Perhaps the winner will be the one on the left. My goal here is NOT to simulate the reality but to play with ideas materials, textures, and a few objects. I like the quiet water the color of the sky and the transparency of the boats DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: This is my first submission and I'm.very new in using Povray. The picture uses the new features of povray 3.1 m_dia,interior and #macro. In order to use the m_dia and interior feature I have replaced planes by three boxes. The first box at z=20 simulate a z plane in the background with a low emitting m_dia and a very transparent and irided texture for the clouds. The second box y=-0.50 contents a high emitting blue-green m_dia surrounded with a high reflexive and transparent texture so we can see not only the sky and the boats reflected ON water but also the parts of the boats wich are IN water. The third plane y=-8.5 use a semi-transparent texture to modify a little beat The color of water. The bouys are made from : two cones, two cylinders and two spheres they are yellow to contrast with water's color. Finally the boats : I've wrote a macro (not included in the zip) wich permit to put any object on a mathematical curve Ax4+Bx3+Cx2+D here this macro was simplificated the curve is X2 and each boat contents 150 spheres. The light and camera are standard one from povwin. The .zip file includes the POVRay source to render the same image use the following parameters Width=800 Height=600 Antialias=On Sampling_method=1 Antialias_Threshold=0.2 Antialias_Depth=4
