TITLE: Venice NAME: Fabien MOSEN COUNTRY: BELGIUM (french speaking) EMAIL: 101741.541@compuserve.com WEBPAGE: ... TOPIC: WATER COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT JPGFILE: fmvenice.jpg RENDERER USED: POV 3.1 TOOLS USED: PaintShop Pro RENDER TIME: 1 hour (my shortest ever for IRTC !) HARDWARE USED: AMD K6 - 64 Mb (128 soon...) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: A view of Venice, from the interior of the Querini foundation (a painting museum). The iron grid is the work of famous Italian architect Carlo Scarpa who restored the foundation in the 70s. The grid, building and exterior view are quite arranged, due to the lack of documentation, or to avoid endless modelling... The cat is there because there are many cats freely wandering in Venice; people feed them happily because they once saved the city from a rats' invasion. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Nothing special. Painful extraction of dimensionnal information for the grid, based on clueless photographs (nothing giving size information). Water normal is an agate. The cat and the boat are stupid image_maps (oh, the boat comes from a 18th century painting by Francesco Guardi). Brickwork is some _a la_ Vives Piqueres mapped height_fields.
