TITLE: Heaven Weeps NAME: Samuel Goldstein COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: libelle@webbwerks.com WEBPAGE: http://people.we.mediaone.net/libelle TOPIC: Water COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: heavnwep.jpg ZIPFILE: heavnwep.zip RENDERER USED: POVRay 3.02.Linux.cc TOOLS USED: nedit, for creating source .POV files. RENDER TIME: 13 24 03 (but the box was also busy running a Web server, and doing various development tasks) HARDWARE USED: Pentium II/266 running Debian GNU/Linux IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The Heavens Weep. One tear falls into a great watery expanse. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The only interesting thing about this image is how I created the water surface. It's basically a sin(r)/r function around the origin created with POVRay loops and blobs. It's interesting how different the image looks with differing values for the water's IOR, reflectivity, and ambience... The moorIco.inc file is one I created a year or two back for doing Icosahedra based upon principles from Islamic art. See my entry "The Wizard's Bannishment" from some time in '97 for more information on that.
