TITLE: Sea Patrol COUNTRY: United Kingdom WEBPAGE: www.bigfoot.com/~justin.whitton/index.htm RENDERER USED: POV-Ray 3.1 TOOLS USED: sPatch, POV-Ray 3.1, Vue d'Esprit 2 RENDER TIME: Approx 1 day HARDWARE USED: Pentium II 266Mhz IMAGE DESCRIPTION: After reaching the limits of the lands resource's, humankind looks for alternative locations to grow food, house the populace and supply the raw materials for civilisation to survive. Space provides the raw materials and some of the food requirements but proves too hazardous for large scale habitation, therefore the Earth's oceans become the new home for much of the Earth's ever growing population. But even this new home doesn't stop some men's greed; wars and piracy soon move underwater, turning scientific research away from solving the problems of the world to developing "better" ways of dealing death in water. Here we see a pair of "Sea-Wasp" water-planes inspecting a small deep sea station whilst on patrol. -------------------- Notes: 1) It's my first image with an sPatch object that is more complicated than a deformed cylinder. 2) It's also my first image with POV v3.1. I was previously using v3.02 but I couldn't get the atmosphere right, POV v3.1 was released and the new MEDIA statements solved my problem. 3) The zip file doesn't contain the ground heightfield which was created in Vue d'Esprit 2 with the dune terrain filter.
