TITLE: I Really Don't Belong Here NAME: Tero Lindeman COUNTRY: Finland EMAIL: xtmb@solutions.fi WEBPAGE: http://webclub.solutions.fi/~xtmb/ TOPIC: Imaginary Worlds COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: belong.jpg ZIPFILE: belong.zip RENDERER USED: Povray 3.1 TOOLS USED: The internal text editor of Povray for Windows Paint Shop Pro 5 (copyright text and JPEG conversion) RENDER TIME: 1 hours 29 minutes HARDWARE USED: Pentium-75 with 16 megabytes of memory IMAGE DESCRIPTION: I've been experimenting with computer generated formations, creatures etc. and some time ago came across rather ugly looking regenerating blobs. Since they don't look like anything on earth and seem just to float trough space, they were ideal for some scene from a imaginary world. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: I created this image without any modelers - just pure coding! The blobs are generated by particles that are being affected by different forces depending of their position. Check out the source code if you really are interested. Due to lack of time I was tempted to use truly excellent C. Colefax's truly excellent Lens Effects include file instead of my own code. After the most part of this image was ready, it looked a bit empty so I added the grid to the background. There could still be more stuff but I hope someone enjoys viewing this image. I was listening to The Future Sound of London all the time I was working on this image and I think it somehow shows, too. I see this image a bit like I hear ambient music. Also, the blobs are inspired by their art (i.e. that sphere with tentacles seen e.g. on cover of Cascade). It's funny that the majority of artists participating IRTC spend tens of hours rendering, while I hardly manage to render more than one hour with my old computer and being mostly happy with the result. Well, I don't complain.
