DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: 

The scene was modeled in Moray and then rendered in PovRay. Booleens were used
for the arches and Sculptor pro tools for the organic spheres. The fire and
plasma are interior objects with  media. The textures for the gas ring planet
were made from marble, the transparent are in the rings are also made from
marble that have transparency. The stars in the background are a granite
texture.
