===== From uwezi@geocities.com: funny illumination, sand needs work the clouds might have looked better if they weren't circular... ===== From scarmig@ohmss.com: Great interpretation of theme! I think the desert can have more stuff in it, yet still look desolate. The clouds in the sky look skewed. ===== From thedewitts@earthlink.net: Well, I like it. But it's a little dry... ===== From tglover@nettally.com: Nice, semi-abstract concept -- good tree! The sand ripples look real -- except near the bricks around the tree base -- I'm a geologist and these sane ripples would wrap around the obstruction like ocean waves around a piling or small rock. BUt they DO look good otherwise ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: A bit off-topic to me. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Nice ripples in the sand. ===== From martialrameaux@multimania.com: Very image simple but so nice, so calm ! ;-) Martial. ===== From clem@dhol.com: Who built the wall?. The sand isn't bad, but I would expect much more irregularity, significant dunes and probably a fair amount of bare rock given the windblown form of the tree. The curved clouds make it seem that you are in the eye of a hurricane. If that is the intent, you need much more evidence of chaos - at minimum some blown off leaves and twigs, perhaps partially uprooting the tree. Rather marginal for topic. It is interesting that the sun comes in at the same apparent angle as the wind. By throwing the shadow in that direction, it adds to the sense of motion, but another angle may have looked better, perhaps by enhancing the perpendicular line of the sand. On the other hand, it would be better if the clouds did show evidence of the apparent wind direction. This image does have possibilities. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: Nice concept, though the image feels a bit lacking because of the simplicity of the composition. Maybe some added details in the sand, or something on the horizon would add that little extra. ===== From file: Notable for originality ===== From file: Very, very good choices for sky, sand, tree. I'd rather see a sharp line between the sand and the sky, and it almost looks as if a spot were used to light the tree and the surrounding sand. I think the lighting should be high all the way to the sand/sky line. Notable for composition, textures, modelling
