TITLE: Had to ask NAME: Michel de Rooij COUNTRY: the Netherlands EMAIL: michel@wunderworld.demon.nl WEBPAGE: http://www.wunderworld.demon.nl TOPIC: Landmarks COPYRIGHT: I submit to the standard raytracing competition copyright. JPGFILE: had2ask.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 3D TOOLS USED: PSP 5 to add the caption and convert the output file format, Rhino 3D, Poser3 RENDER TIME: 1 hour 45 min HARDWARE USED: PII 400, 256 Mb IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Although the topic was landmark the focus is on the two crew members on board of the trawler. I did this because I wanted to make a picture that was more than just showing a landmark. That is why the right crew member has a Easter Island head. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Almost all the modeling was done in Rhino 3D. The Easter Island heads and the boat are modelled with this app. If you are interested in how this was done, mail me. I added some Bryce primitives, like the masts and ropes. The figures were done in Poser3. I decapitated a normal figure and planted a Easter Island head on the neck. The name of the boat is projected on the side by a square spotlight with a black and white pict gel. The name, by the way, might ring a bell; it is the name of the ship that was found abandoned on the open sea in 1872. No traces were found of the crew, nor could be found out why, and how, they had left the ship. This mystery usually is linked to the Bermuda triangle vanishings, although the Marie Celeste was found nowhere near it. The source file is too large to post, even when zipped.
