RENDER TIME: 11 hours, 47 minutes HARDWARE USED: Celeron 400, 256MB Ram IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Something horrible has happened behind the tool shed... More unpleasantness is sure to be found if you just look around a bit, but I'd run if I were you! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: As this was my first substantial graphics project, I wanted to get experience with a variety of techniques, and model everything myself rather than work from existing models, to learn. Some objects are just hand-coded CSG (nails, boards, ring, can, blood); some are height fields (paint, flagstone, concrete); others were modelled with sPatch or the Rhino eval (finger, hacksaw, bottle cap, cigarette butts, flies, grass); the two outer plants were made with Plant Studio. Textures are mostly hand-coded experiments. To make the gravel I wrote C programs to randomly generate mesh objects with about 2000 triangles each; then 30000 of these were randomly placed to avoid the flagstone; the gravel was just about the hardest part of the picture. I spent a lot of time on this image and learned a lot, but I know I have barely touched a small fraction of the available techniques. What fun!
