===== From cdsi26@bupers.navy.mil: I especially like the celtic cross and the taller head stones. The fountian water is a bit purple. The oval grave stones could use some weathering. ===== From daffyduckx@hotmail.com: All those similar headstones look repetitive. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: The sky just didn't make for me and there were more head stones than atmosphere. ===== From ameede@madmac.com: Alot of work apparently went into this piece. It seems that you covered all your bases except for the ground itself. The burial mounds do not intergrate with the ground, they appear as a cut-and-paste attempt. The roof on the Mausoleum isn't what I have seen before, perhaps you have decided to add that type of texture to help balance the work? Regardless, the work is busy and complex, and there is alot to look at to keep the eye moving. ameede@madmac.com ===== From robertsc@accn.org: Image was so dark it was hard to see detail, or even the whole scene. ===== From tina@ripco.com: The markers with the spheres look like kitschy Home Shopping Network jewelry. Somehow I doubt that's what you intended. The colors of the sky and the fountain water are really jarring, though the red fog is a nice touch. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: This is an image where I'm not sure what the artist was trying to achieve. A certain spookiness, but no real horror. It is almost peaceful. I think it is also hurt by too much repetiveness. A military cemetary might well have many monuments looking alike, but most such sites have much more diversity in the markers. ===== From peter@table76.demon.co.uk: The individual grave markers look good, but in the final image it's too apparent that there's only a few types, repeated. Perhaps the macro for each marker should have another parameter, an array of text, so that each marker could have different text. That would give the impression of similar styles of marker without making them look off-the-shelf. Though that might look too much like a Simpsons Hallowe'en episode :-) . ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: A really good piece of work. Improvements: The water is too purple, much darker and more transparent would be better. The scene in general could do with being a bit brighter as some of the detail can't be seen, maybe give it a fairly high ambient light so that we can see things like the lanterns outside the mausoleum, the curb stones beside the road etc. Also the road could do without so much red in the colour, and to help that have the red fog start a bit further towards the back of the scene. Another general point about the scene is that it looks quite narrow, you could play around with the camera a bit maybe give it an angle of something like 25 and bring it back a long way and generally make the scene a bit wider, the eyes are drawn immediately to the back of the scene and the casual viewer will miss much of the close up detail. ===== From file: A cemetary is a place of rest, not of horror. And the textures are far too shiny.
