===== From cdsi26@bupers.navy.mil: I've seen the painting. You did pretty good. I won't point out the obvious. A little stiff on the sharks. good render. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: If you were trying for realism, it just didn't work... too blocky...artificial looking. ===== From timk@jtse.com: Neat. Nice use of non-photorealistic elements. While not a copy, pays good homage to the original. The expanse could use a greater sense of depth, as if it goes on and on forever in every direction. This is one thing that Homer's rendition really inspires in me (having not actually been down to New York to see the original). A little fog would have improved this effect in your model. As it does in the original painting, where we can just make out the outline of a ship in the distance, through the mist. ===== From ameede@madmac.com: I can truly imagine the difficulties in the translation process that you mentioned above. The paradigms, or the approach in creating artwork between the two mediums can bring on extreme hardships. Yet couldn't you have done a variation on Homer's theme? Take what the work communicates to you and give it contemporary imagery? ameede@madmac.com ===== From dlauer@optonline.net: Good idea. lacks realism ===== From dwallace@lynx.dac.neu.edu: Decent idea, but not enough detail on figures. ===== From tina@ripco.com: There is something seriously wrong with that water. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: This was an interesting approach, recreating a well-known painting in this manner. Overall I liked the image, the boat was well done, the ocean waves worked well, I would have liked more detail on the sharks and the man on the boat. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Good effort. All the essential elements of the scene are there. Why are there almost no shadows? ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: I like the style, and would like to see it applied to a subject matter that I know better. I would have liked to have seen the source code for this, and would have probably have given it higher marks had I been able to study it. A short description of how you created the scene in the text file would have helped.
