===== From cdsi26@bupers.navy.mil: Just a bit too plain. Nothing here strikes me as horrific. Good job randomizing the snakes. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: A bit to 3-D ish.... needed some curves to the sphere head and more consistent envrionment. ===== From timk@jtse.com: Nice use of texture on the face, to enhance the ugliness. Very ugly. Almost revolting. Grotesque but not gross. The eyes could be looking at the camera, though. ===== From ameede@madmac.com: Actually Henk I prefer to read the image before reading the description. Visual arts as a symbolic form is a written language in-and-of-itself. It is interesting that you chose a Greek figure as opposed to one that permiates the Netherlands culture? The textures you employed are difficult for me to distinguish, like between the face and the snakes yet they are fantastic looking, they are dynamic and striking to the eye. I like the strong contrast between the Medusa's head and the background, very powerful. Finally, I like the fact that you pushed the snake hair back providing the work with a sense of movement that can only add to the aggresive nature of Medusa. The only thing I feel is missing is the affect of her deadly gaze. What are the consequences to me, or anyone, if her eyes are set upon us? There is no indication of that in your scene. In some cases of fine art, the artist presents consequences and not just the protagonists. ameede@madmac.com ===== From patrickd@netins.net: Thesnakes look good but the head isn't detailed enough. ===== From dwallace@lynx.dac.neu.edu: If only the head were part of a real SCENE rather than the subject of an object photo. ===== From tina@ripco.com: I guess Medusa is a good horror image, but with her head floating in the middle of nowhere, it didn't do much for me. Still, nice snakes. ===== From ericf@foothill.net: I couldn't help wondering where the rest of her body was, though not absolutely necessary, I guess. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Good work so far. Now, take the next step and complete the body, and the environment around the figure, and you will have a complete scene. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Nice looking image. The nose isn't too visible. Those snakes are good and seem to have the colour scheme of a famous Duch beer, it might have been good to have say two or three different colour schemes for the snakes, it would make them look a bit more random. I agree with you on the eyes, they are good as they are.
