JPGFILE: oblivion.jpg RENDERER USED: Bryce 4 TOOLS USED: Poser3, Rhino 3D, PlantStudio,PSP 6 (for file conversion) RENDER TIME: 0 51 23 HARDWARE USED: PII 400 Mhz, 256 RAM IMAGE DESCRIPTION: This picture was inspired by an image i did some time ago (http://www.wunderworld.demon.nl/telephone.html). The idea behind "Oblivion" is that the man in the image seeks refuge from the rat-race-world by working in his garden. And he is so absorbed by it that he is wonderfully oblivious to the outside world. The world might disappear around him and he wouldn't notice it. Eventually he will of course, but that is another story :-) DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Although Bryce is a landscape builder there is hardly a way to build convincing trees, flowers etc. There are some plug-ins but they are mostly for the Mac version and without any exception very expensive. So i had to make the trees and the ivy on the back fence with symmetrical lattices and terrains. On Bill Munn's homepage you can find a tutorial about this technique (http://www.munnsgallery.com/). The lawnmower, the rake, the wheelbarrow and the crumbling walls of the house were build in Rhino 3D. The man is a Poser3 figure. The plants in the foreground are made with Plantstudio (http://www.kurtz-fernhout.com/).
