TITLE: "Music for Abandoned Buildings" NAME: Marco Semprini COUNTRY: Italy EMAIL: oblique@libero.adhoc.net TOPIC: Ruins COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: abandbld.jpg ZIPFILE: abandbld.zip RENDERER USED: POV-Ray for Windows TOOLS USED: POVLAB 4.0 SP4, sPatch 1.51, Photoshop 5.5 RENDER TIME: 9 Hours 21 Minutes HARDWARE USED: PC (Intel Pentium III 500 Mhz/384 Mb Ram/Riva TNT2 Ultra 32 Mb) IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Music for abandoned buildings I was working to a possible cover for my recent track in xm format, a tribute to Brian Eno, a little pure ambient experiment ; and i think the relaxing vision of this scene could be complementary and/or representative of the song mood. RENDERING MUSIC: "Music for Abandoned Buildings" - Oblique of Blackhole XM unreleased module composed for the Blackhole group. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: (Main modeller) The main used program is the great Denis Olivier's POVLAB 3D modeler. 90% of the scene is composed using basic CSG feature (difference) and basic POV objects (mainly boxes and cylinders) (Other tools used) Complex models, as the "Corinthian capitals" and the "Columns" themself, were modeled completely with Mike Clifton's sPatch 1.51 utility. A huge work were done with Photoshop, creating and/or modifing existent textures, just to fit the global color of the scene, taking inspiration from old art books. The "Plants" are RAW generated files. ADDITIONAL INFO Due to the close IRTC deadline, i consider this image still "work in progress". Consider that the cloister were modeled at 360 degrees, and what you see in this image is only a little part of the pics i have in mind to create.... so expect to see more in the "not so near" future. I have included in the ZIP file the pic in its original size (1024 x 768). Enjoy the details =)
