interesting textures, but too harsh. nice colors

From whhale@nvl.army.mil:
My only gripe...the texture seems too large

From marlo.steed@uleth.ca:

Good image.... the cannon is spectacular. The walls need something... I am not
sure what... the textures are too large if the coverage were smaller it might
have looked more realistic.

From sammy@cube.net:
The rust looks wrong, probably because the scalling is different on the cannon
and the rest of the building. (It looks great on the cannon)
THe horizont is also too abrupt. Try using a different cloud texture, namely one
which gives the impression of distance.8Clouds becoming smaller nearer the
horizon)
Otherwise a very nice picture and a good interpretation of the theme.

From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com:
This is a very strange looking composition.
On the one hand it looks very convincingly realistic (shapes, lighting,
background on the right, water) and on the other it looks so unnatural
(textures
in the castle, background on the left).
A bit of ground haze/fog would make the image more convincing still.
A good submission, but ?

From jouni@mikrobitti.fi:
A well-modeled fortress and the cannon, I really like them! Some points
on the textures: The worn metal texture you applied works well, although
it's a bit too colorful at some places (the left side of the stairs in
bottom-right corner, for example). The cannon has nice bumps, which work
surprisingly well. But is that Phong wax I see again? And please don't
tell me it's the reflection finish on those cannonballs? :-)

From jrcsurvey@aol.com:
Communicates a sense of ruin. Subtly complex composition.

From StephenF@whoever.com:
I love the corroded texture on the cannon and the other
two foreground objects (not sure exactly what they're
called). The background has a nice "painted" feel to it
that I like a lot, too.

From jaime@ctav.es:
Hmmm... impresionantes texturas! Modelado muy efectivo y gran uso del HF. La
composicion, estupenda. El unico detalle que me llama la atencion es la poca
cantidad de sombras visible: a juzgar por la sombra del ca_on, creo que has
usado
un area_light. No es demasiado suave? Hubiera preferido ver unas sombras algo
mas
nitidas... en conjunto, gran trabajo!

From clem@dhol.org:
I like the layout and the background, especially the sandy
beach. The textures on the fortress are individually well
done, but I find them a bit too similar. In particular, the
cannon looks as if it too were made of stone. This
appearance may well be faithful to the actual fortress, but
if so this may have been a time for artistic license.

From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
A nice image, clearly of ruins. Modelling is effective, and it's nice to see
those weeds make a reappearance! The decayed lichen-encrusted texture is good,
but is it showing any of the original rock through the layers of grime? The
colour just seems a bit uniform in hue.

From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk:
Beautiful image, I can't help feeling that those textures would look better if
they were scaled considerably larger than they currently are. The landscape and

water are very good.
Text file far too long, I didn't read all of the English section, it just
seemed
to go on and on.
