===== From jgrimbert@atos-group.com: the bricks are too new, and too much :-) ===== From whhale@nvl.army.mil: You achieved the objective. Only note...Break sone of the scatered bricks. ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: Nice concept. ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: The earth texture looks more like a cloud texture (or muddy water). The strange contrast between the clear bricks and the not as clear mud, earth and other materials makes some of the bricks look like they are floating in mid air, which takes away from the otherwise rather realistic looking scene. Otherwise a classical interpretation of the theme that few others have used. ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: All right, this one was the first scene with ruins of the sort I expected to see when the topic was announced. You've modeled the building structures elaborately and it shows. Even as it is, this goes easily to my top ten, but a few points I might have made differently: - You have concentrated pretty much (even too much?) on the construction materials. The barrels in the basement (the building on the left) are a really good touch, I think the image could have used more of that kind of stuff. Perhaps a couple of shattered chairs, some kitchenware, a harshly damaged bathtub etc. You know, there's an awful lot of this kind of stuff inside the houses. - The texturing could use some fine-tuning. Taking into account that destruction of this caliber rarely takes place without the (direct or indirect) use of explosives, it's a bit surprising that neither the bricks nor the ground carry any marks of the intense heat. At least some soot marks would be expected, if not even craters. - The mountain range in the background looks a bit like if it was copy-pasted. Some more work in welding it to the ground would probably have paid off the time used. As a whole, a very well composed image. Great work! ===== From chris_darcy@yahoo.com: Artistic score low. The buildings don't make sense. The main one has four different brick types. Confused. Technically Great. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: I like the sky and mountains in the background. Overall, it seems a little too busy to me, and the texture of the scattered bricks doesn't seem to match anything they could have fallen from. Cool wall in the front left, though. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Wow! Hard work placing bricks! It only seems to nned a bit of smoke here and there. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: This is a nice looking image, with a good background and some good work on the modelling and textures. There are a few problems though - the bricks and lengths of wood look far too clean, like they've just been made. Some of the bricks appear to be floating in mid-air. Also the ground texture could probably do with a bit more colour and darkness variation. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Great image, particularly the mountains, barbed wire, bombed out buildings. But where have all those brand new squeaky clean bricks come from. Oh there's a squeaky clean brick without any cracks in it embedded into a plank of wood also without any cracks in it. The ground does look good, the only real area for improvememnt I'd suggest is in the textures on the squeaky clean bricks and on those stone walls close to the front of the image, they look a bit too clean aswell. Soem really good work, hope to see more in future rounds.
