===== From chris@bluelectrode.com: Whew, good thing I bet everything on 'ol lucky zero;) ===== From marlo.steed@uleth.ca: Great concept.... needed to look mor realistic... ===== From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com: Very well on topic indeed. A better texture for the roulette itself might enhance the scene. Maybe some surface finish, roughness or other. Same goes with the green mat. ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: The concept of a financial ruin is dangerous, I'll say it again. Well, at least you knew you were pushing the limit. A motionless capture of a roulette table does not suit into the ruins category. This would have been considerably better in-topic if some other elements for the loss were there: people with their heads in their hands etc. Anyway, ignoring the off-topic issue, some observations: A nicely modeled roulette you have there. You could have used the same level of detail to decorate the rest of the table. Some fine objects of wood, some nice golden wood linings and similar items. And yes, although roulette is usually played with tokens, you could have dramatised a bit by letting the stakes be real money, rings, jewels, golden teeth (not)... stuff people don't usually give up until the ruin is very very close. And hey, 125 kB is fine, but especially the red/black symbols and the "Pair" text in addition to some of the numbers suffered from JPEG compression. No sense in wasting a good image with bad compression. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: I like the parquet effect of the background, and the shaping on the spindle of the roulette wheel. The green felt on the table seems kind of glaring... I think a darker shade of green and a basic felt-type texture would help a lot. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Very original! And funny... (for me, not for the player, of course!). ===== From clem@dhol.org: Good idea. It surprised me how few people went for the financial ruin angle. I like the parquet table, but the wood texture of the wheel needs some tweaking. A bit more dynamism might have helped this image. perhaps a slight motion blur on the wheel and a strobe-effect of the ball actually bouncing into the zero slot would add drama. ===== From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au: I have to give this a high mark for concept, because I was laughing when I saw it. Some more detailed modelling and texturing would have made it even better. The sharp shapes also don't help the jpeg compression. ===== From sjlen@ndirect.co.uk: Great interpretation of the topic. That wood should be shiny. Hmm I should put my gambeling chip macro on my website. Nice work.
