The different trees look much too much like one another. It would be very
seldom
(I think) that one can find such an unusual shape for a tree in more than one
isntance in more or less the same location. Just my point of view.

As you said medieval castle ruins aren't that fancy, and the theme 
may be pretty worn, but it's a damn good image you made out of the 
subject! The stones in the castle have crumbled in the realistic 
way, and the crashed floors in the main building... Mm, VERY nice 
touch. I don't like everything in your image, but it definitely 
has the best building-based ruins this round. Well done!

The castle is beautiful... the crumbling edges look like 
what I was trying to go for in my scene (I wish my results 
had been as good as this!)  And the way the fog makes 
the background appear washed-out heightens the sense 
of abandonment and despair.

Very good.  I like the trees, birds, stream and especially 
the castle.  Perhaps a bit too foggy and gray.  The trees 
are perhaps a bit too similar.  Excellent job of destroying 
the castle.  Good composition.  Unlike most, this scene is 
not really self contained.  It implys a whole world.

Nothing really fancy?! This is fantastic. Very moody, with muted colours,
but they are there, so it doesn't appear too bland. The tree shapes look a
bit strange, but the texture is spot on. The grass, ground, birds - all good.
But the castle... wow - that is perfect. The stonework, the ivy, the
collapsing walls, all beautiful. Looks like a prizewinner to me.
