I would have put the train in the opposite direction... ;-)

Good attention to detail

Great composition. Beautiful use of color. One of my top five.

From marlo.steed@uleth.ca:

Stunning image.... the only thing that bothers me about the image is the grass inside the fence is brown (nice grass) and the grass under the train is green... seems a bit inconsistent to me.

Good composition and classical concept.
Strange to see such strong reflections in ordinary window panes.
Nice house (or it must have been).
Alien sky.

If you had been able to work the ruins theme better in, this would've
easily made it to my top ten. The modeling and lighting are great, and
the silhouette of a passing train is simply the work of a genius. The
modeling on the house is exceptionally good. In addition to the
texturing you mentioned, you could have added some details indicating
the ruin. Perhaps a couple of broken windows, missing pieces of fence,
cracked railings etc. And a horrible magenta overkill you had there :-)

Looking forward to your next entry, hopefully you've got the time to
make it suit better into the theme. Good work anyway!

Very striking image. Noticeable attention to detail

Beautiful job on the house -- good attention to detail and
texture -- I love the sagging roof over the porch and the
variation of the fence posts. The sky is a bit oddly
colored for my tastes, though.

Beautiful! This one really strikes a chord for me... it's
the kind of thing I would like to be able to do. The
contrast of the brightly colored but moody sky with the
muted tones of the house and grass works for me. If I
had to pick one picture from this round as my favorite,
this would be it. Unfortunately, I ended up ranking it
number eight overall because of concept... the
farmhouse merely looks rundown, rather than abandoned
or ruined by time. While I read the text file and
understand and sympathize with the problems with the
test renders, I felt I had to judge the concept by the
actual picture rather than the artist's intent. Still, this is
a beautiful, excellent picture, and I'm looking forward to
seeing this artist's next entry.

Very nice, truly appealing. The light seems a bit too white for such a colorful
sky, but great pic anyhow.

When I looked at this image, I thought "Hopper" at once
before I saw the title or text file. Obviously, you did a very
good job of capturing his style. As you say, the house
came out a bit clean to be a true ruin, but it may work
better this way. As it is, it gives the sense that the owners
have given up but not yet been able or willing to simply
abandon it. The poles and wires frame the train well and
improve the image greatly. The cornfield has an
interesting painting like look. I particularly like the
decaying fence. The dramatic sky is a great colorful
contrast to the graying building and silhouetted
background.

A nice image to look at, but yeah, the house didn't turn out very ruined
looking. Still, it's nicely detailed. I'm just wondering where the sun is -
the shados on the house and the colours of the sky are a bit contradictory.

This is such a stunning image, and yes it does look a bit too clean. The
fence seems to have escaped the clean problem, the notes on the grass and
train are interesting, and I may use that train idea for the next round but
not to make a train. The sky is maybe a bit too bright, but it's colour in
general is good.
