JPGFILE: rainynig.jpg RENDERER USED: POVRAY 3.1e.watcom.win32(Pentium II optimised) TOOLS USED: SPatch 1.5 PaintShop Pro 6 RENDER TIME: 2hr 5 mins HARDWARE USED: 233MHz PII 64 MB IMAGE DESCRIPTION: It's Tuesday, its raining and Ted the bouncer is looking at a long night DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Most of the textures have a high reflection and tight highlights to simulate the effects of rain. The road and pavements are made using a heightfield tile and setting the water_level(!) The office buildings are simple csgs. The light sources fall into 2 seperate categories. The traffic lights / street lights have high ambient on the shape and a point light just in front of it. The lights round the door are point lights infront of a mirrorred surface. This means that the lights are visible in the mirror, and so look like the mirrors *are* the lights. Ted's body was created in Spatch, and his head is blob construct. The lit head (which gave the nightclub its name) is a heightfield based on a scanned image of a gargoyle. It needed a fair bit of work in Paint shop before it worked as a heightfield, in particular is has been blurred a lot to get the smooth contours The sign is a prism and the rest of the building is simple csg. The car's wheels are created in spatch. I couldn't create the main body using it so its madeup using 2 superellipsoids and lots of differences The walker with the umbrella is some more csg Karl Manning karl@pemail.net 18/4/2000
