TITLE: St. Marks Place & 2nd NAME: Jim Charter COUNTRY: USA EMAIL: jrcsurvey@aol.com WEBPAGE: members.aol.com\jrcsurvey TOPIC: The City COPYRIGHT: I SUBMIT TO THE STANDARD RAYTRACING COMPETITION COPYRIGHT. JPGFILE: stmarksp.jpg ZIPFILE: stmarksp.zip RENDERER USED: MegaPOV TOOLS USED: PSP, Poser RENDER TIME: 17h 33m HARDWARE USED: Athlon650 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: The scene shows a view of the intersection at 2nd Ave and St. Mark's Place, New York City, as one enters the street from my building. To me, 'the city' defines an environment, a human condition, even a state of mind for one to inhabit. It contributes to an identity. So I pictured my neighbourhood. It seems to me that the image, and 'the city', are as notable for what you don't see, as for what you do. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: The image makes use of the motion_blur feature of Mega POV-Ray. The tree include files were generated from 'maketree' by Gilles Tran. All modelling, except the two poser figures in the forground, is csg. Signs are image_maps. Neon signs are text objects, 'font.inc' (Michael Johnson) saw use. People and pavement are blobs. Pose2pov (Steve Sloan) used to import the poser figures. SplineR (Chris Colefax) also sees some use.
