===== From bfranke2@home.com: The connection with the topic seems a bit contrived. ===== From rjhansen@hotbot.com: I like the concept, although I think it's kind of a stretch tying it to "The Wilderness". I think the ants are a little too stick-figurish. Nice lighting. I'm always impressed by someone who can model a good scene using only a text editor ===== From Stickgod01@aol.com: I would recommend using a program like Spatch to make more realistic ants. I used it last round for mine (antfarm.jpg) and they worked quite well. I really like the idea for this image. ===== From jaime@ctav.es: Very realistic lighting! All light is comming actually from the torches? ===== From tony@j4tb.com: Nice lighting. The ant eyeballs look nice. ===== From jd@surveyor.in-berlin.de: Funny, but as so many... off topic. ===== From javaearl@hotmail.com: How interestingly intriguing. Your ants are very cartoony (which I like...probably even better than non-cartoony ants.) ===== From warp@iki.fi: The shadows look weird. Softer shadows would have worked better. I think ants have six legs? The torches on the walls don't look like they are illuminating their surroundings. Perhaps putting them farther away from the wall could have worked better. Tried using fading light with the torches? Might have worked a lot better (and got rid of all those weird shadows). The interpretation of the theme seems quite vage. Not bad, but not marvelous either. But not a bad image after all. If you had worked more on the lighting and the details of the objects (specially the ants) it could have been an excellent image ===== From luisvaloyes@malditasea.zzn.com: Really cool image, very original and intense, I specially like the bridge and the doors, it's a very nice job. ===== From dmacisaacj@hotmail.com: cool concept, like the lighting ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Really funny but somewhat far fetched interpretation, good work in Povray hand coding ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: Basically, the concept of using anthill interiors to represent wilderness is a good idea. However, despite the story, the image is mostly a display of architectural prowess, which was not (IMHO) the clue this round. I would've forgiven you a lot if the view inside the base would have been more like a typical anthill. However, the buildings are just like human-built and the materials don't seem too natural either. Thus, the ants look like they were just put where there should be human soldiers. The image itself is technically fine, but the shortcomings in the interpretation are definitely the problems in this submission. Impressive lighting you've got there in the background! ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: An intriguing concept, and the amount of small details really help make the scene. Good use of lighting too. In close-up, the ants have a cartoonish quality which doesn't seem to quite mesh with the rest of the scene in my eyes (I think it's just the pop-eyed look of the one in the lower right that makes this so... perhaps the same eyes with a solid black color might have worked better? Still, a very minor criticism.) ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Good work, but the two featured objects (the queen and the keyboard key) are hardly discernable in the scene from this point of view. ===== From albiaprime@aol.com: Artistic- Nice detail in the 'suspension bridge' Technical - As above, nice 'bridge'. The lighting on the queen might be just a bit too overpowering. Concept - Doesn't quite fit into the topic in my mind Additional Comments: - reminds me of the movie Antz ===== From file: More a center of civilisation than a wilderness. Nice Modelling, The proportions of the ant archetecture are very cool. Notable for lighting, composition
