===== From mmdoogie@ardmore.net: "Americans have a real problem with accepting the idea of the Wilderness as being untouched and unseen. The Wilderness is something to be "used". It must be hiked, ridden, climbed, collected, grabbed, kayaked, BASE jumped, skied, snowboarded, conquered. Many US "wilderness" areas are so heavily used that advance reservations are required." ---> Isn't this true!!!!!!! ===== From bfranke2@home.com: Nice spin on the topic. The soil looks ok to me. Maybe you could add a few pebbles and some water in the bottom of the depressions. ===== From rjhansen@hotbot.com: Unfortunately, I have to say great interpretation of the theme! I really like the concept. I think the boot and tire tracks are well done. The can and wrapper are a nice touch although they don't look quite as realistic as the rest of the scene. ===== From Stickgod01@aol.com: well... Yeah. I suppose so. Anyway, you should have blurred the heightfeild a little bit, because the way it is, the tracks look too clearly defined. ===== From tony@j4tb.com: Neat technique with the boots though I might have tried white nail polish. (Drys Faster) The overall description seems a little cynical. Being a resident near the long trail. (The North East part of the Appalachin Trail) I have found the trails (at least in VT) to be clean and well kept. ===== From harlidobib@redshift.com: Very funny image! The leaves need work, though...they look like plastic. ===== From javaearl@hotmail.com: How true, how true. Great footprints and treadmarks. ===== From warp@iki.fi: The antithesis of the topic? Good idea. Could be technically better. The grounds looks very good, but the objects look too plastic. They look like floating on air, like added afterwards to a photo. ===== From luisvaloyes@malditasea.zzn.com: Excellent concept and cool image. ===== From mark.wagner17@gte.net: It is possible to hike the entire length of the Appalachian trail, staying each night in a motel. The trail is anything *but* wilderness. You might try adding some turbulence to the texture used for the bike track heightfield to get rid of some of the sharpness of the track. Other than that, the heightfield is incredible. ===== From chris_hormann@gmx.de: Good message, excellent heightfield work! color composition is interesting, but the objects seem to be floating. ===== From jouni@mikrobitti.fi: The concept and interpretation are interesting to say the very least. The ground could've used a bit more erosion, the tracks rarely are that sharp. Nice idea, a bit more finishing would've given you easy points. Probably one more detailed object as an eyecatcher could've made the difference too. ===== From StephenF@whoever.com: Good concept... a nice pointed commentary. The boot and bike treads look great. The colors on the can and wrapper seem a little bright, and the wrapper looks to be made of solid metal rather than having a metallic sheen. The texturing on the leaves looks good. ===== From gmccarter@hotmail.com: Sadly on-topic. Nice heightfield work. The batwing leaves could use a little work, though. ===== From albiaprime@aol.com: Although your description of Wilderness was very good, I was disappointed in your image. I was expecting to see a desert, mountain trail or such with indications of human intrusion in the foreground........ ===== From file: Great concept. The lighting seems to flatten the scene a little -- maybe some more contrasting shadows would look good. Notable for modelling, composition, originality
